Mom/wife/expert witness to my own issues
Hi,
My name is Kacey. I am 40 years old, a wife, mom, daughter and friend. I have had many medical mysteries since my crazy entrance into this world on new year's. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 11 and it was 17 degrees when they found it. I was told no bracing or surgery would be needed as I was in puberty and would not grow anymore (shocker they were wrong). I now have a 30 degree curve on top and a 40 degree curve on bottom. I have been bounced around, misdiagnosed and finally found out last year I have a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos and that was a huge missing piece of the puzzle. I have been abandoned by the pain doctors of our medical system and while adding numerous diagnosis and doctors to my file, I have received no actual treatment for my debilitating pain. We need healthcare reform and I am screaming my story from the rooftops to hopefully bring change.
Here's a great episode to get you started featuring podcast host, Madalyn Sklar. Hear her journey about living with chronic pain and finding relief from a plant that has worked better than years of pharmaceuticals.
